Boys Tag Rugby
We all had a fantastic time at the boys tag rugby competition organised by Tiverton High School, on Thursday 29th February. The boys were a credit to the school showing great sportsmanship and team spirit. The matches were fast paced and exciting and there were some real stand out performances.
|
Well done to all the boys.

Nursery have been having a lovely time learning the story of 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears'. We have acted the story out in role play and used puppets to retell it. As well as that we had a go at making porridge. It was interesting to see how the porridge is made with oats and milk and cooked on the stove. We then all enjoyed eating it just like the three bears.

Behaviour of parents on school site
We would like to remind all parents that we expect all adults and visitors to our school to behave in an appropriate manner. Aggressive, abusive or intimidating behaviour will not be tolerated. All staff have a right to attend the workplace and to not be subjected to abuse. Any poor behaviour may lead to a parent being banned from the school site.
|
Please can we remind parents that if they have a concern, it must be raised with a member of staff in the appropriate way rather than approaching other parents directly.

Family Hubs engagement
The council is changing the way that young families are supported at Children’s Centres, and is moving towards developing Family Hubs. We are hoping to engage with those who use the services, as well as professionals and community groups, to help influence the changes.

SEND Parent Workshops
We held a very successful workshop for parents last Tuesday. The focus was on autism: how we can support children with autistic difficulties at home and at school. Parents shared ideas and strategies with each other, with us giving a school perspective. Of particular interest was the list of local opportunities for support in the Tiverton area. I have added this information to the 'Helpful Websites and Resources' link on SEND page of our website: SEND Support - Heathcoat Primary School
|
Would you like to come along to our next workshop for parents? It is on Tuesday 26th March from 9-10:30am. We will be focusing on speech and language difficulties at home and at school. Please sign up at https://forms.office.com/e/7Rc4Dj0Rz4
|
We are currently planning our Parent Workshops for the summer term. We have several ideas from parents for topics to cover. You can share your ideas at the bottom of the form on the link above, if you have not already done so.

World Down Syndrome Day
On 21 March, we would love HPS children to choose some socks that are going to get noticed!
They might be mismatched socks or your craziest and most colourful socks, whatever takes your fancy- just wear them alongside your USUAL UNIFORM!
The idea is to start a conversation, so when people ask about your socks you can tell them, “I’m wearing them to raise awareness of Down syndrome”. And then you can tell them everything you want them to know about Down syndrome.
