World Book Day

Last Thursday we had a wonderful day celebrating World Book Day at HPS. We had staff and children alike who embraced the characters - from Harry Potter, to Where's Wally, Mary Poppins and The Midnight Gang...and everyone in between!!!

The children loved sharing their favourite authors and books with us and were so excited to be able to take home a brand new book (especially written for World Book Day 2024).

Thank you to all our wonderful parents who supported us in creating costumes and who have helped promote the love of reading.

Science Week

Just to remind you that we are celebrating British Science week (8th-17th March), and this year the theme is TIME. On Wednesday, we have an exciting interactive science show, from Sciencedipity (a Devon based Science education provider) for the whole school to watch.

There is a cost to this activity as it is being provided by an outside company. Thank you to all those parents/carers who have kindly donated. We are asking for a minimum donation of 72p per child but if you can pay more e.g. £1 per child, that would be greatly appreciated. Payments can still be made through your Scopay a/c.

Here is a link to the British science week website that you might wish to explore with your child, it provides activity packs and tells you more about science week; Homepage - British Science Week

The children will also be spending some time during this week exploring science further in their lessons. We are looking forward to seeing the interactive and exciting science show in school!

NHS Daily Big Brush campaign

After Easter the Nursery children will be taking part in the NHS Daily Big Brush campaign.

Year 3 & 4 PE

In PE, Year 3 & 4 have been working on counter-balances, supporting each other to create different shapes and balances.

The children have worked well with different partners and enjoyed creating these different balances.

Parent support with Autism

Devon's Communication and Interaction (C&I) Team have just released their workshop dates for the summer term. These workshops run each term, and they are always very helpful and informative. If your child has a diagnosis of autism, or is on the waiting list for an assessment of autism, then do take a good look at the workshop dates and take part if you can.
To sign up, please email the C&I team on educationlearnersupport@devon.gov.uk

Comic Relief 15th March

The school council invite children to wear something red (instead of their school uniform) and do something funny for money. Children might want to tell a joke, do a dance or something else to make their class laugh. If you would like to make a small donation to Comic Relief then bring in your donation on Friday 15th March.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Orlaith who has been working really hard towards her green Blue Peter badge and has been doing lots of litter picking inside and outside of school.
