We are proud to have celebrated World Downs Syndrome Day today by wearing odd socks.

Exmoor Challenge

Last Thursday, Miss Higginson and Mrs Soper took 14 Year 6 children on a thirteen mile walk as part of their training for the Exmoor Challenge. They all arrived to start at 8:15am at Lowdells car park at the far end of the Grand Western Canal and walked the whole length of the canal. The wonderful weather, helped keep spirits up as the children learnt how to read and orientate their maps to the landscape and work as a team. Looking forward to next walk to Bickleigh!

Holy Week

Year 3 and 4 have been learning about the importance of Holy Week and Easter for Christians, this half term. We have learnt about what happened to Jesus on Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. We have explored why Good Friday is called this even though it is a sad day. Last Friday, we welcomed Reverend Humm into school to talk to us about how Christians celebrate the various days in Holy Week.

Spring garden open day

Our Eco Committee had a lovely time at the Spring Garden Open Day at Blundell's on Thursday 21st March. They completed a senses game, which they found rather challenging! They made biodegradable plant pots and planted seed in them, which we will be looking after and planting in the summer term!

World Autism Acceptance Day

In April each year, organisations around the world, including charities and the United Nations, get together to increase understanding and acceptance of people with autism. This year, the aim is to create a world in which autistic individuals are fully supported, championed and celebrated.

At HPS, we are celebrating Autism Acceptance Day on Friday 19th April. We would like the children to come to school wearing colourful clothes - as many different colours as possible per person! The message of this is that differences are welcome, valued and accepted. During the day, we will explore what it means to have autism and how we can help autistic people to feel comfortable and accepted.
