Parking

It was great to see our local traffic enforcement officer outside HPS on the last day of term.
Our main priority as always is to keep our children safe.

Year 3 & 4 Art

Last half term, Year 3 & 4 have been studying painting. We have practised colour mixing and the 'wet-on-wet' technique. We also learnt how to use a viewfinder to sketch landscapes and then used still-life to sketch, colour- wash and add pen detail to our paintings.

Year 1 Rockets

Year 1 made their rockets today! They added a nose cone and fins to make the rocket fly faster and then decorated them. At breaktime, they took the rockets outside to launch them!

Year 3 & 4 PSHE

In PHSE year 3 & 4 have been learning about hopes and dreams. We have been working in teams to create funny potatoes. We had to use all of our TRAIN values to create our models, overcome disappointed when some of ideas were not included. These are the contestants in the funniest potato competition.

Year 3 and 4 Forest School

Miss Pearson's class enjoyed their final session of forest school despite the rain and the mud! The children had great fun completing their Anglo Saxon huts by making a roof from sheets of plastic and leaves. We only had to relocate one Anglo Saxon hut due to flooding. We then finished the afternoon warming up around the fire and toasting marshmallows. Thank you, Mr Newsome, for a great time in the forest school area.

Nursery Experiment

We have enjoyed the story ‘Mr Grump’s Outing’ and wanted to test out objects that would float or sink. We made predictions before we tested out our theories like ‘real scientists’. We then recorded our findings. We were quite surprised that the wooden stick floated as it was really heavy and the cotton wool sank even though it was really light.

Year 5 trip to Blundell's

On Wednesday 7th February, Year 5 were invited to Blundell's to watch their concert called Around the world in 80 minutes. The children thoroughly enjoyed listening to a live orchestra and choir. We had songs and music from America, Australia and Europe. Thank you to the pupils and staff at Blundell's for a wonderful afternoon.
Thank you to everyone who supported the school with the Bag 2 School collection. We raised an amazing £150 for the school.

School Disco

We raised £424.80 at the school disco last term. Thank you to everyone who supported and helped at the disco.

Thank you

A huge thank you to everyone who brought in tubs to be recycled. We have collected a massive 167 tubs! Devon Contract Waste recycle them into outdoor furniture and make a donation to Dartmoor Zoo and Life Chance Trust. Each tub is worth about 20p to the charities. So not only have we raised about £33.40 for charity but have also reduced the amount of waste going to landfill. What a brilliant effort!
It is never too late to benefit from good attendance:

More than half (54%) of pupils who were PA (persistently absent) in Year 10 and then rarely absent in Year 11, passed at least 5 GCSEs, compared to 36% of pupils who were persistently absent in both years. At HPS we are keen to establish good attendance habits from Reception to Year 6. These habits will help children in secondary school and beyond. Please contact us if you have any questions or require support with attendance.

Donations wanted

We have a beautiful dolls house but no furniture or people!! We would love to use this wonderful resource with our children. If anyone has any dolls house furniture or people that you no longer use and would like to donate them to the school, we would be really grateful.
