HPS ECO WARRIORS 2023-2024
The Eco Warriors have key responsibilities:
- To represent pupils, discuss issues that classes bring to their attention and work to resolve them.
- To meet regularly throughout the academic year, plan and deliver environmental projects, and inspire their schoolmates and wider school community
- To understand the impact our school has on the area around us and the wider world.
- To respond to annual survey results and work to solve problems.
- To help with school development to make the school an even better place to learn.
Introducing our new Eco Warriors this year:
This year the Eco Warriors are taking part in the Eco-schools program and did a survey on the areas we would like to focus on. The results of the survey are:
- Transport
- Litter
- School Grounds
April 24th 2024
This afternoon, our Eco Warriors have been working really hard in the kitchen garden. They have planted a range of seed and plants, repaired the planters and have been doing lots of weeding.
They have done an amazing job! Thank you to everyone who kindly donated any seedlings and seeds!
March 2024
Our Eco Committee had a lovely time at the Spring Garden Open Day at Blundell’s. They completed a senses game, which they found rather challenging! They made biodegradable plant pots and planted seed in them, which we will be looking after and planting in the summer term!
November 2023
The children have had a great time developing our Bug hotel in our outside area. They are already looking for a variety of bugs to come and keep warm during the wet weather. They have used binoculars and magnifying glasses to look closely and find out about the bugs we have around us.
November 2023
Our Eco Committee, have been working really hard to improve our Kitchen Garden. This week, they covered the beds for winter, continued weeding and planted daffodils, which will hopefully make an appearance in Spring. Well done Eco Warriors!
Environment Day – June 2024
On Tuesday 4th June, the whole school took part in lots of fun activities linked to the environment to help us gain evidence towards the Woodland Trust Platinum Award which was what our dear friend and colleague Mr Newsome was working towards this year.
The children took part in tree dressing, explored books liked to our planet and had a guest speaker from Little Green Change who kindly donated some plants and bird boxes, got our hands dirty doing some weeding and planting, with a finale of worm charming. To our amazement 62 wiggly worms greeted us with their presence!
