Holy Week
Year 3 and 4 have been learning about the importance of Holy Week and Easter for Christians, this half term. We have learnt about what happened to Jesus on Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
We have explored why Good Friday is called this even though it is a sad day.
On Friday we welcomed Reverend Humm into school to talk to us about how Christians celebrate the various days in Holy Week.
Exmoor Challenge
Miss Higginson and Mrs Soper took 14 Year 6 children on an eleven and a quarter mile walk as part of their training for the Exmoor Challenge. They all arrived to start at 8:15am at Lowdells car park at the far end of the Grand Western Canal and walked the whole length of the canal. The wonderful weather, helped keep spirits up as the children learnt how to read and orientate their maps to the landscape and work as a team. Looking forward to next walk to Bickleigh!

Year 3 & 4 Mixed Football
Year 3 & 4 had a great morning at THS taking part in a mixed football tournament. Team A reached the final and were the runners up, while Team B narrowly missed out on the final and achieved third place. ‘Player of the Match’ for Team A was Flynn for being a great team player, while ‘Player of the Match’ for Team B was the WHOLE TEAM for showing fantastic teamwork, great communication and superb sportsmanship – Mrs Warren was very proud of them all!
Special mention goes to Matthew and Flynn for great team management and to Travis and Grace R for superb football skills.
Well done everyone!

World Book Day
We had a wonderful day celebrating World Book Day at HPS. We had staff and children alike who embraced the characters through the day – from Harry Potter, to Where’s Wally, Mary Poppins and The Midnight Gang…and everyone in between!!!
The children loved sharing their favourite authors and books with us and they were so excited to be able to take home a brand new book (especially written for World Book Day 2024).
Thank you to all our wonderful parents who supported us in creating costumes and promoted the love of reading.
